Hemerocallis middendorffii var. esculenta is one of the most popular summer flowers on the highland, I guess. They look pretty planted across the creek. The yellow colour brings brisk air.
ニッコウキスゲといえば夏の高原の花の代表格だろう。ここでは沢を覆うように植えられてきれいでした。黄色が爽やか。

Veronica kiusiana var. japonica @ Rokko Alpine Garden. / pirikainankle

This is Veronica kiusiana var. japonica. The fringe of purple flowers gives me cool breeze. There are some kins such as V. ornata and Veronicastrum sibiricum. Also you know, V. persica.
ヤマルリトラノオ。紫の花の房が涼しげな風を運ぶようだ。ゴマノハグサ科の仲間にはトウテイランやクガイソウなどがある。あ、オオイヌノフグリも。

Clematis apiifolia @ Mt. Rokko / pirikainankle

It was the first time for me to see Clematis apiifolia. The yellowish white flower is small actually, about two cm big, and I can't believe it belongs to the Clematis family... They were like a numberless stars in a galaxy.
ボタンヅルを見たのは初めてだ。やや黄色がかった白い花は小さくて約2センチくらい。これがクレマチスと同属とはにわかに信じられない。しかし、無数に咲く花が銀河の星のようだった。

This is, I suppose, Boehmeria. To be honest I can't tell whether this is B. spicata or B. tricupsis var.unicuspis... They say B. spicata grows a meter high and lignifys. I could have known which if I had touched the plant. Taking photos makes me stop looking, That's always a lesson.
これはイラクサ科カラムシ属なのだが、コアカソなのかクサコアカソなのかはっきりしない。コアカソなら１ｍくらいに生長し木質化すると言うけれど…出遭ったときに触ってみればわかったはずなのに。写真を撮ると見ることをやめてしまう。いつもそれが教訓なんだけど。

Pieris Tunnel / pirikainankle

After lunch at the top of the mountain we headed down to the Rokko alpine botanical garden. To make it a short journey we took a trail, then found us walking through the grove of Pieris japonica. Although the flower season had gone it was nice. Pieris is usually only one meter or two high when you see it in the garden, but they had grown like an arcade with five-meter-height. The branches were red and crooked, the leaves dull shiny green in the Summer high noon, I thought it was like a landscape painting of South Europe.
山の上でお昼を食べて、六甲高山植物園へ向かった。近道のつもりで山の遊歩道を行くと、アセビの木立を抜けていく道であった。花の時期はとっくに終わっていたけど、いいなと思ったのは、普通アセビといえば庭木なら1−2m前後といったところ、ここのアセビは5mくらいに成長してすっかりアーチのトンネルになっているのだった。夏の正午、枝は赤くひねくれ、葉っぱは鈍く緑に輝く。なんだか南ヨーロッパあたりの風景画みたいだあと思いました。

Fancy Chinese / pirikainankle

Dinner at a "Shanghai bishoku syuka" with my family on the Teramachi Oike street. I always look at the chinese restaurante because, to me, it reminds of Soho in London -- you know, the atomosphere -- when you come in you hear the pop music from Hong Kong, and you see pop and flashy space inside, so it makes me feel casual frankness and kinda homesick. Anyway, the dishes, I felt it was not bad. Hot and quick, and a bit of surprise and relish as other chinese quisine.
寺町御池の「上海美食酒家」で家族ディナー。いつもロンドンのソーホーを思い出させる店だと思って気になっていたところ。なんちゅうか雰囲気がー、香港ポップスのかかっていそうな具合とかポップな内装とかが親しみやすさがあって郷愁を誘うのである。それはともかくも料理、手早くアツアツで、悪くないと思いました。ちょっとしたサプライズや風味もあって他の店に劣りません。

Being a gardener, I had a week off due to the perpetual rain. I walked in the damp imperial garden with no expectation of flowers, and found the vigorous activity of mushrooms. Feeling at home with the smell of rain, soil, and mushrooms.
植木屋で働くようになって、長雨続きで一週間の休みになる。特に花を期待するでもなく、
京都御苑を歩く。そこでキノコの盛んな活動を見た。雨と土とキノコの匂いって落着くような。

木曜日は同じくNHKのプロフェッショナルを見ている。
今週はプロフェッショナル特番にてスガシカオの歌に
いちいち聞き入って熱くなったピリカイナンクルは
茂木健一郎に「こうすればかなり（近く）なれる」
という癖を発見した。
ゲストの話に相槌をうつ茂木健一郎。
住吉アナのツッコミ→ゲストの打ち明け話→そしてモギケンの締めくくり
「確かに○○って大変なこと（or意外なこと）に見えるんですが、
でもそれって実は、現在最新の脳科学でいま非常に注目されている
×××という現象なんです！」
「最新の」「脳科学」「注目」といったキーワードがポイント。
もうこれをちりばめられたら目の前が急にパーっと開けるかのようである。
人の話を鷹揚に受け止めたかに見えて、その重点を自分の土俵に引き込むモギケン。まあ実際には脳科学を語ることは一般人には無理なので、それぞれの得意分野に応用して使ってみれば、あなたも柔らか頭のかっこいいプチ天才に早変わり！！

"Streets for People -- A Primer for Americans" by Bernard Rudofsky / pirikainankle

I read a book named "Streets for People" by Bernard Rudofsky (1969). Quite a good book for the people who engage in Landscape architecture. Traveling over the world, living in New York as an architect, he had been offended at American motorization and mega city dehumanization (I guess it was probably quite a seventy's issue in USA). Thinking of human-scale life style, his favourite thing is Italy. Rome, Bologna, Siena, Perugia, Padova, Apulia, he's always been charmed with the magic of the Meaditerranean towns. Cobbled alleys which goes into the inside of the house, streets with arcade running all through the town which give you confortable shade, theatrical stairs to the piazza, fountains, outside living with table and chair, he praises all these outdoor funitures which make you happy with pleasure of walk. This Italian style inseparably depends on the dry climate, of course -- but I can't deny it's definitely attractive. Lots of pictures of the town give you great illustration in this book.
バーナード・ルドフスキー「人間のための街路」（原本1969年）を読んで、ランドスケープに関わる人にはうってつけの良い本だと思う。世界中を旅してニューヨークに暮らす建築家として、ルドフスキーはアメリカの車社会と巨大都市の脱人間的状況に憤っている（まあアメリカの1970年代的な問題だったのではと思う）。ヒューマン・スケールの暮らしを考えるにあたって彼のお気に入りはイタリア。ローマ、ボローニャ、シエナ、ペルージャ、パトヴァ、アプリアなど地中海都市の魅力にすっかりはまっている。家の内部にまで引き込まれる道路の小石の舗装、町の全てを網羅して快適な日陰を提供するアーケードの道、劇的な演出で広場に通じる階段、噴水、テーブルとイスを並べた戸外リビング、こうしたものがあれば街の散歩の楽しみが増して、日々が快適になるというものだ。まあこういうイタリア式はこの国の乾いた気候と不可分なわけだけれど、魅力的なことは否定できない。本には町の写真がたくさん掲載されていて説得力がある。

Philosopher's Path / pirikainankle

I found a tree of Hibiscus syriacus on the Philosopher's path to the Honenin temple. The tree was quite big, about five meter high, and then the branches with white flowers were hanging over the creek. A period of rain for a week.
法然院へ行く途中の「哲学の径」で、ムクゲの木があった。割と大きくて高さ5mくらい、疏水の上に懸かって枝に白い花が咲いている。長雨の続く一週間。
